On the Outs

Now that it is coming down to it, the reality of moving half-way across the country is setting in.
First and foremost is the reality that I’m leaving Davis, the place where I finished my B. S. and did my Ph. D. studies - which translates to six and a half years here - and leaving friends and family to head off to places unknown will not be easy. I guess this is the price I must pay to pursue my current interests, and that pursuit has not led me astray as of yet.
Next is the formidable task of loading up a trailer and driving out to Texas. 1,100 miles and many, many energy drinks are in my near future.
As I write this, I am buttoning up all of the last loose ends, turning off utilities, etc., Tuesday I load up the trailer, and Wednesday it’s good-bye Davis, good-bye California, and hello Texas (well, after a couple of days of driving!).
