Conclusion of the Meeting

What a day... today everyone travelled by boat to the island of Mainau. During the ride there I was speaking with a couple of bloggers there to cover the meeting. We were in the middle of a discussion when one of them asked if I would repeat some of my comments on video camera. On the island a panel discussion of climate change was chaired by several scientists and policy makers. The interesting bit was the clear difference in the opinions of policy makers as to how big a threat global warming is, and whose responsibility it is to deal with it.
After that, I had a bit of free time to wander around the island (pictures to follow shortly, hopefully) - it is practically a living catalog of all kinds of plants, trees, flowers, and the like.
The boat ride back to Lindau is when all of the interesting things happened. I was used as part of a balloon artist’s show... so I got a funky balloon hat... the balloon artist made a survey of some chemicals he thought were interesting (including making a C60!). I was able to speak with Bob Grubbs and Martin Chalfie during the ride back, who both shared some interesting stories.
